Embodied Books: Talk and meet the author

Embodied Books: Talk and meet the author

Darian Stahl’s new publication, Embodied Books, has a twofold purpose—to empower those with illness, disability, and caretaking roles to tell their own stories with artist books, and to educate future and present healthcare professionals using those books as primary resources for understanding patient experiences (embodiedbooks.com/about). The University Libraries is working in collaboration with the Medical Humanities Department to bring Darian Stahl to campus on November 11th and November 12th, 2024, to expose our students and faculty to her complex, empathy-building work. Darian Stahl’s work not only aligns beautifully with the Baylor Medical Humanities’ goal of integrating humanity into medical encounters but also exemplifies the creative power of interdisciplinary collaboration, as she worked closely with her sister, Devan Stahl, Professor of Bioethics and Religion at Baylor, to advance her research. Please join us for a lively and thought-provoking conversation between Dr. Stahl and Dr. Stahl.
