Totally 90s Digital Practice Week - GIF Workshop In-Person / Online
The 90s were a totally radical time! Especially the radical shifts in the way we communicate through the rise of the world wide web and the increasing accessibility of new and improved digital tools. Join the Experiential Learning Commons in exploring a variety of digital creative practices that had their big break in the totally tubular 90s!
The Graphics Interchange Format may have been born in the 80s, but the addition of animated GIF looping to Netscape Navigator in 1995 was when it truly became an internet phenomenon. The GIF (or is it pronounced GIF?) has been a staple of memes, forums, and text chats for decades. In this workshop we'll explore its history, appreciate the art, and learn to create our own original GIFs.
After this workshop you will:
- Be aware of the variety of online tools for GIF generation and software options.
- Develop the ability to create animated GIFs in Adobe Photoshop using a collection of images or an imported video.
- Leave with your very own custom animated GIF of your creation.
This workshop is intended for any member of the Baylor community interested in creative practice including students, faculty, and staff.
