SUMMARY:Embodied Books Workshop Part 1 (Register here!)
DESCRIPTION:Registration for this event will open on October 1st\, 2024.
Please register for the event listed on November 11th\, 2024. This is a
two-day workshop event\, in order to experience this event in its intended
way\, registrants are expected to come to both sessions. Please keep this
in mind when registering. (November 11th and November 12\, 2pm-5pm\, 2024).
Please note: you do not need experience in artist book making to attend
this event\, but please do come prepared to create\, share\, learn\, and
connect! \n\nDr. Darian Stahl will be on Baylor's campus on November 11th
and November 12th to share her dynamic work in the health and medical
humanities. A printmaker and bookmaker who works to create opportunity for
personal connection within the often depersonalized realm of clinical
medicine\, Dr. Stahl writes on her website\, "Embodied Books is a two-part
research project into the intersections of art and medicine\, known as the
health humanities. The first part of the project is a series of workshops
to create handmade artists’ books that combine text\, image\, gesture\,
and multi-sensory artistry with those who identify as having experiences
navigating the healthcare system. The second part is to mobilize these
creations as primary resources of patient experience in the education of
future and current healthcare professionals." \n\nPlease direct questions
